NIXON ART MOSH

I wish I could make it out to Munich for Ispo tradeshow at the end of this month 29-30th. Not only are my friends RHYTHM showing their new collection but there will be a lot of great stuff to catch.

The Nixon Art Mosh will make its 2012 debut with a two-night installation, beginning Sunday January 29, this invitation-only art exhibition will showcase the works of emerging and established talent in the field of art and music with once again a strong contingent of influential artists all of which are renowned in Germany.

So a bit gutted I wont be attending this but I will be going to The Ledge tradeshow at the beginning of feb so I'm looking forward to that!

TASTY USB

Géraldine Klein, founder of La Boite a Couture sent in these little treats to be featured in the mag. Géraldine is a french designer currently living in Barcelona. She created my own brand, La Boîte à Couture, after many years working with clay as a hobby. All her designs are hand made and inspired by her daily life.

I have the sushi one and Jo has the strawberry tart, they are such great little designs just like everything else on her site. Definately worth having a peak.

CREEP

So these little puppies arrived on my door step yesterday. A belated crimbo present from my folks I was undecided whether or not to spend so much on just a pair of shows. The 'limited edition' and suede X espadrille sole totally sold me!

UH OH!

So it turns out I have a blog? you wouldn't think so after I have neglected it for almost 2 months. But to me it seems like no more than a week. I cannot believe where these last two months have gone. Its crazy, I have been seeing so many great bloggable bits and bogs and just cant find 5 mins to get them onto here. Maybe if I didnt write as much and just stuck the images on it would save me a bit of time.

So news is... I have finally updated my website for the first time this year, you can see all my new work and more to be added if you click on the link to the right, or above. I am also happy to announce that Rhythm the brand that will knock the sock off you has finally got its new European website up. Its defo worth a look although there are only mens ranges currently on there you can get a sneak peak at the womens SS/12 collection in which I designed the graphics and swimwear prints for im sure these will be up soon. I will also start to filter designs onto my website in the new year when the stock starts going into stores. Their facebook page is also full of wonderful happenings.

EMIL, ONE DAY I WILL DO THE SAME!

Emil Kozak has been dabbling in his own clothing range for a while now, producing great garments, prints photography and lookbooks. His most recent lookbook Lazy Days has some great prints in. I love the stone and skull design and just the general mono-tone feel. I have been working on two clothing ranges this year for next summer but the ultimate goal is to one day do my own thing like Emil, again another thing to add to my massive list of 'to do's!'

ITS BEEN A WHILE, LETS CATCH UP

I have well and truly neglected this blog. In between trying to do my normal job, taking on more freelance than I can handle, catching up with friends and taking up yoga this poor area of my online presence is gradually disappearing. I have seen some really great work recently but cant even find 5 mins out to stick it on here! I am going to have a big re-vamp of my website with a bunch of new work soon. I am also going to try and get my ass out of bed 30 mins earlier to do my yoga which will hopefully result in my energy levels going up enabling me to do the little things iv been slacking on. Well thats the plan...

DESIGNER OVEN GLOVE

The grand folks at Envelop kindly sent me a custom made oven mitt designed by Bart Aalbers for me to feature in the 192 issue of CA. It was my turn to curate the Design for life section of the mag and I rounded up 7 rad products to review and photograph. You will be able to catch them when the mag comes out on the 25th August. Because every item in Envelops online store is made to order they whipped me up this mitt especially with my name on the inside tag along with the design. A nice finishing touch and all for the cheap price of 15.99 Euros. Its a great site and you can submit your designs to be made on all sorts of household products its definitely worth checking out. So is Bart Aalbers, hes a great, quirky illustrator I almost feel bad using his design to pull my chips out of the oven.

NA NA DR. MARTENS

I have just managed to buy these super rare gorgeous suede DM's off of Etsy from a wicked seller in California. They are true beauts, they have been stored for over 30 years and have never been worn! They were originally bought from NA NA Dr. Martens chief US distributor in the 80's and 90's so are flying over the pond onto my feet. Perfect A/W shoe to replace my current mint greens I have glued to my feet this summer.

I am so gutted I cant make it to Barry Mcgee's exhibition at the Modern Art Gallery. Its his first London show in 6 years! I am going to London this Sunday for a tradeshow and was hoping to squeeze it in but obviously the gallery is closed for a nice day of rest on sundays so I will have to stare in awe at the pics off their site.

Barry is brilliant and the closest I have come to any exhibition of his was 'The Happening' in Sandsifter about 3 years ago when great illustrators, artists and musicians came together to great an awesome night. Thomas Campbell was also there displaying a collection of his work. I have been a big Barry fan for a while now and I also admire his late wife Margaret Kilgallen's work. She had an amazing style much like Mcgee and its reminded me how I still need to watch 'Beautiful Losers' which features both Mcgee and Kilgallen in a documentary following the lives and careers of do-it-yourself designers and artists who have inadvertently affected the art world. In fact im going to order it on amazon now. If you are in London until the 13th you can check out his exhibition at the Modern Art gallery just off Oxford Street.
